PTR Reverse IP Lookup

What is PTR?

A PTR (short for "Pointer") record maps an IP address to a domain name. It's the reverse of an A or AAAA record.

PTR records are important for email servers because many receiving servers check that the sending IP has a valid PTR record. A missing or mismatched PTR record can cause email delivery issues.

Forward-confirmed reverse DNS (FCrDNS) means the PTR record's hostname resolves back to the original IP address, which provides additional verification and improves email reputation.
